My name is Akpan Unwana, and I am a Nigerian graphic and print production designer with over a decade of hands-on experience helping brands look sharp, communicate clearly, and print beautifully. Based in Nigeria, I work with corporate organizations, small businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals across Africa who need design that does more than look good — and every project I take on is rooted in precision, intentionality, and a genuine love for print craft. What started as a passion for layout and color has grown into a career spanning book covers, packaging, merchandise, and promotional designs that make brands stand out, because great print design does not just look good: it feels right, communicates clearly, and gives your brand the confidence to stand apart. This page is a glimpse into my journey, the work I love, and the craft that drives me forward.

MY STORY

I did not just wake up one day knowing design. It started with a curiosity about why some brands felt premium, and others did not — why certain flyers stopped you in the street, and others did not. That curiosity turned into a craft, and that craft turned into a career spanning over 10 years.

Over that time, I have worked on everything from logo systems for corporate organizations to print-ready packaging for product brands, book covers for self-publishing authors, event brochures, promotional posters, social media graphics, and custom merchandise. Every project has taught me something new about the space between a great idea and a great final design.

Today, I channel all of that experience into two things: doing excellent design work for clients, and teaching what I know to the next generation of Nigerian and African designers through free tutorials on this site and on my YouTube channel.

WHY I STARTED THIS SITE

After years of doing client work, I noticed something: most of the design education available online skips the details that actually matter in the real world. The print vendor conversations, the prepress file requirements, the client communication, the pricing, and the tools that working designers rely on every day. That gap exists whether you are in Lagos, London, or Los Angeles.

So I built this site to fill it.

Every tutorial, guide, and article here is written from direct, on-the-ground experience, not theory.
